Adaptability

"The only constant in life is change"

I was pulling out of the driveway a few weeks ago and I saw this in the back yard - that is Brian's canoe drying on Mary's slide. I had to take a picture because it made me chuckle. It also made me appreciate how clever my husband is.

He and I have been through so many changes in the past two years. On our wedding day, I never thought we would have children. We had no reason in the world to ever leave California. But here we are - we've adapted.  I love to see images like this with elements of our past merging with elements of our future.

On Monday nights Brian goes to the garage-man-cave of the neighbor down the street. It's a pot luck and this week he insisted on making a huge pot of his famous pasta. Monday also just happen to be the day of our first snow. So, to make his pasta a success despite the cold weather, he got it all nice and warm, wrapped the pot in a heavy Mexican blanket and rolled it down the street in Mary's wagon. Watching him walk down the driveway all bundled up pulling his pasta made my heart grow 10x-plus-2.

I remember learning in science that the creatures that are able to adapt to their surroundings are the ones who survive and thrive. I think Brian's doing pretty well in this department.
:)
